POWER shows a continuous camera move, beginning in an extreme close-up of Kanye West and gradually expanding to reveal a neoclassical tableau. Set within an abstract, digitally constructed environment, the scene is populated by allegorical creatures, all moving in hyper-slow motion. Inspired by Renaissance paintings and classical frescoes, Brambilla’s work portrays a fictional historical moment – an empire on the verge of collapse under the weight of its own excess, decadence and corruption.
